McCall Area Golf Courses

The McCall golf course is one of the oldest courses in Idaho. In 1926 the sound of golf balls contacting wood began (wood, as in trees!). McCall citizens donated the land for the original nine holes and locals did the construction. The McCall course resembles several other Idaho courses built during that time, characterized by an abundance of stately pines lining long and somewhat narrow fairways. The rough was, indeed, rough. Many a golf ball found a secure resting-place until discovered by some other erratic golfer looking for yet another golf ball gone astray.

A second nine holes was constructed in the late '60s and the new clubhouse was built in the late '80s on land donated by the Brown family, and built through the efforts of the City of McCall and the McCall Golf Course Foundation. The Foundation, a group of interested citizens, is also responsible for donating the money for new tee-boxes, greens and furniture for the clubhouse. Although the course still has a profusion of evergreens, the rough is not as foreboding and fewer golfers say "goodbye" to their golf balls. Call the McCall Golf Course at 208-364-7200.

A new nine holes, designed by Robert Muir Graves and built by Spring Mountain Ranch, is now ready for play. The new nine is a true golfing adventure, adding another dimension to McCall golf. This nine has rolling uphill-downhill fairways, huge and numerous beaches (sand traps) and, to further enhance the adventure, wetlands. It will be exciting!

Still not enough golf? You can always start your season a little earlier by making the drive to New Meadows and the 18 hole Championship golf couse at MeadowCreek Golf Resort. Call them at 208-347-2555 or 888-847-2558 for more information. This course includes a pro shop, driving range, lessons, rental clubs and carts, and a seasonal restaurant. www.meadowcreekresort.com Open from April to October.

Cascade also has a golf course open to the public. 208-382-4835.
